Fences

A fence can bring you security and add value to your home. The main purpose for any fence is a practical one: to designate the perimeter of your property. But a fence can also make your yard feel like an extension of your home. It can provide a safe place for children and pets to play, for family and friends to gather for special events and for showing off your landscaping and gardening efforts.

The materials typically used to build fences are: wood, PVC and steel.

Wood:
Wood is easy to cut and assemble. This provides great flexibility in terms of model selection and subsequent adjustments, making wood a popular material choice for fences. Of course, if you are looking for a fence that lasts and does not require significant maintenance, pressure treated wood is recommended. That or you can use Western red cedar. The latter, with its rich texture, warm colours and high-end appeal, provides great dimensional stability. It does however cost more than treated wood.

PVC:
Today’s PVC components require zero maintenance and, unlike their predecessors, are highly resistant to deterioration and fading. The internal structure of PVC elements is often reinforced with galvanised steel to ensure superior rigidity. Unlike wood, this material has the ability to be moulded to create various curves and angles.

Vinyl Covered Chain Links:
This type of fence provides the best combination of cost effectiveness and durability. The galvanised steel links are covered in vinyl, which is available in white, black, green or brown. Posts and structures, on the other hand, are not covered in vinyl but a baked-enamel finish that blends with the colour of the vinyl. Posts for this type of installation are set into concrete base mounts reinforced with metal rods.
